William Primrose (23 August 1904 – 1 May 1982) was a Scottish violist and teacher. He performed with the London String Quartet from 1930 to 1935. He then joined the NBC Symphony Orchestra where he formed the Primrose Quartet. He performed in various countries around the world as a soloist throughout his career. He also taught at several universities and institutions. He authored several books on viola technique.

[edit]William Primrose was born in Glasgow, Scotland to John Primrose and Margaret McInnis (Whiteside) Primrose. He was the oldest of their three children. RICHARD MUNCEY
Richard studied at the RCM with Bernard Shore. In his final year there he won the major viola prize. He was a member of the Guadagnin String Quartet who had associations with Southampton University and The University of Hertfordshire before becoming the resident quartet at Lancaster university. They were also resident quartet at Banff Summer School in Canada during the summers of 1978 and 79. He studied with William Primrose whilst in Banff. The quartet studied extensively with The Amadeus Quartet. They toured at home and abroad and won several international prizes.They often had concerts broadcast by the BBC and also by radio stations
