Suzanne Worthington
Suzanne Armstrong Worthington, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Highland, Utah on August 23, 2024, having been lovingly cared for by her family. She was born on April 10, 1937, in Manti, Utah. Her parents, Norma Harmon and Kenton Alif Armstrong, had four daughters: Norma and Beth, twins who died at birth, Kenna Rae, and Suzanne. Her father tragically drowned in 1938 when Suzanne was fourteen months old.
Suzanne was a dutiful and loving daughter and was extremely close to her mother throughout her life. Growing up in Manti, she cultivated many special friendships and especially loved spending time with her sister, grandparents, and cousins.
Suzanne graduated from Manti High School in 1955 and attended Snow College and Brigham Young University. She enjoyed working for New York Life and later as a public relations representative at the telephone company in Salt Lake City before her marriage.
Suzanne married the love of her life, Kay Thomas Worthington, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 11, 1966, and they were blessed with six children.

When and how did your connection with UE begin?
I was the Dean of the College of Law at Stetson University and the Provost that hired me to be the dean became the President of Capital University in Ohio. She picked up the phone one day to tell me that the University of Evansville was looking for a President and she thought I would be a very good fit. She nominated me for the position and let me know that the search firm was going to call me and “I should talk with them if I was remotely interested.” They called and asked if I had 10 minutes to talk about UE. I agreed. They asked if I had 30 minutes the next day to talk some more. I agreed. A week later, they next called and asked if I would be willing to fly to Indianapolis to meet with the Search Committee the following week. I agreed. A few days later, they called and asked if Siobhan and I would fly to campus to meet with the Search Committee and some members of the University and community. It was all confidential and I remember Siobhan and I taking a tour of campus at night with Kenton Hargis to maintain the confidentially.
