Young American composer Jonathan Reid Gealt, making quite a name for himself and best known for his ballad “Quiet”, is in London to launch his new album Here For You (Ballads for Broadway Impact) engaging an array of British talent at St James Studio . An opportunity arose to stage a teaser concert, TransAtlantic the night before the album launch together with British composers Craig Adams and Steven Luke Walker. Hence, this review covers both the performances.

The shows are the result of a collaboration between two production companies ILIADebuts, which specialises in introducing live new international artists, and Theatre Bench, a company developing new theatre, dance and cabaret works. At one point during their preparations, organisers and creatives were communicating between three different continents, and with so many artists involved, particularly during the choral numbers, the small studio stage of St James was stretched to its absolute limit, adding

Lyrics of No Reason at All by Jonathan Reid Gealt, Katie Thompson

I lay here in the dark yearning for something
A tiny glance, a kind word to get my heart beating
But you′d never know 'cause I never show how much you′ve
Helped me to see the woman I'm longing to
beSometimes I just need to cry for no reason at all
Sometimes I'm too tired to try for no reason at all
Sometimes I just have to learn to let go for no
reason at allI stand in the door as life passes by
And feel like I′m stuck in-between
The life that I want and what I can reach
It′s like I'm not heard and not seen
There must be a way at the end of the day
That I can help make you see
The woman I long to set free
′Cause sometimes I just need to cry for no reason at all
Sometimes I'm too tired to try for no reason at all
Sometimes I just have to learn to let go for no reason
at allI can see the things that I need to change in me
    And that′s a start, a place I'd rather be
And when the time comes, will I have the strength
To pull myself up and see that
Sometimes I just need to cry for no reason at all
Sometimes I′m too tired to try for no reason at all
Sometimes I just have to learn to let go
